Self Help...
Here at Holistic Bodywork - Massage and Yoga, we encourage our
clients to continue the positive effects of their massage and yoga
session. Here are some helpful suggestions:
Take a bath...
with Epsom Salts to help relax muscles. The salts are made
with magnesium which relax soft tissue. They can heal and bring a
hematoma (bruise) to the surface more quickly. You could add an
essential oil to the bath like lavender to help with relaxation.
If you have a sore area on your body...
such as a sore low back/hip, at the end of your shower, put hip
under direct water pressure as hot as you can stand it (of course
not scalding ) for 1 minute, then turn to cold (as cold as you can
stand it ) for 30 seconds. You’ll be counting fast! Then back to
heat for 1 minute, cold for 30 seconds, heat for 1 minute, and end
with cold for 30 seconds. This is a form of contrast hydrotherapy to
help pump the blood to decrease pain & inflammation. It really helps
and only takes 5 extra minutes!
Take some yoga classes...
or do yoga with a DVD. Learn to do a sun- salutation correctly
and take 10 minutes to do a slow version with variations. This will
help stretch and strengthen many areas of your body as well as
energize you.
The Miracle Ball Method...
by Elaine Petrone, is a 2 pack ball set with a small instruction
book. The ball is about the size of a soft ball, but it is firm and
also gives under pressure. You can use a bicycle pump to help make
it fuller or softer. It is a safe way to self treat tight/tender
areas in the comfort of your home or take when you travel!
